First Aid Kit

Alternatively; you can remind the car rental agency that the car must be delivered with a first aid kit. By tasking them before picking up the car, they will take time to ensure that first aid kit they deliver with the car is in proper condition.

Car Charger

If you are going for a long road trip. A car charger is one of the most important items that should not miss out. However, you have to check whether the cigarette lighter port is working when the car is delivered.

The car charger will be rendered useless if the cigarette lighter port is not working. Similar to the first aid kit, you have to emphasize with the car rental agency that the car should have a working cigarette lighter port.

Head Lamp

The head lamp is one of the essentials that should not miss on your packing list when going for a self drive trip in Rwanda. You will need a headlamp in case the interior lights blow. It is inconveniencing to use a phone flashlight when you are looking for something inside the car.

It is also common for the battery terminals to get loose when off-roading. Having a head lamp will make it easy to fix the terminals in the dark.

Toolkit

Car Toolkits are relatively expensive but you will not need everything that is found in the car toolkit. Among the things that should not miss include; pliers, 13mm spanner, 12mm spanner, 11mm spanner and 10mm spanner.

The 10mm, 12mm, and 13mm spanners will help you tighten the battery terminals in case they get lose. It is common for the terminals to get loose after driving on a bumpy road for a long time.

Car Air Freshener

In order to keep your car fresh throughout your self drive trip in Rwanda, you will need an air freshener. Sometimes the cars remain with the odors of the former drivers even after cleaning. Due to allergic reactions, the car rental agencies avoid putting air fresheners in the car. You personally know which fresheners that you are not allergic to and for this reason, you should carry your own air freshener.

Though there are several other things you might have to carry for your self drive trip in Rwanda; the above listed essentials will make your trip easier. You should also make sure that the car rental agency delivers the car with jumper cables to ensure that you do not get stack in case of battery related issues.
